The Courage of the Mystics – Jane Shaw
How have the mystics across the centuries shown courage in the face of persecution, illness, heresy trials, and numerous other challenges? How are the mystics of the past models for us today as we develop spiritual resilience and learn how to take a leap of faith in challenging situations? The lecture will look especially at a number of twentieth-century figures whose rediscovery of the mystics led them to bold and courageous actions, as conscientious objectors, champions of racial justice, and much more.

Courage comes from the heart – Pádraig Ó Tuama
The word Courage comes from the Latin cor meaning heart. The action of courage, then, is nurtured by the heart. Other languages use words that connote breastplate — some kind of protection — for courage. In this session Pádraig will explore some biblical characters through the lens of this important word, looking at multiple shapes, expressions and directions for courage.

Healing Hauntings: Discipleship as Inward and Outward Journeying toward Restorative Justice Across Our Divided Landscapes
– Ched Myers
Ched will exposit the parables of Luke 11:14-26, reflecting on how our landscapes are occupied by “unclean spirits” (such as White Supremacy) that promote domination, division and disparity. To face the ghosts that linger in both our 'political bodies' (socialised selves) and body politics, we must re-member our dismembered history, and re-vise our devised communal and public narratives in the service of reparative justice. Only a discipleship of self-examination and solidarity can heal our hauntings and restore God’s vision of Beloved Community.
