St Katharine's Parmoor - 3 vacancies

We are a small, hard-working and dedicated team and have 2 positions available for suitably qualified or experienced people:


Assistant Cook

Some of the responsibilities are to:

  • Assist with meal preparation according to procedures.

  • Provide assistance and cover for Catering Manager as required.

  • Kitchen hygiene and cleaning based on HACCP procedures.

  • Assist with weekly deep cleaning of food preparation areas.

  • Maintain familiarity with menu items, ingredients, and allergens.

  • Efficient and friendly service of all meals.

  • Assisting in other areas of the House as required.


Housekeeper and General Assistant

Some of the responsibilities are to:

  • Service bedrooms and all public areas.

  • Assist in the kitchen and serving meals in the dining room.

  • Maintain the house and gardens.


Both roles are based on a 35-hour week – including weekend working. Onsite accommodation is available.

St Katharine’s Parmoor is a Christian House of Retreat and Prayer situated just outside the village of Frieth. It is a haven for quiet reflection for people of all faiths and none providing a venue for retreats, quiet days and other gatherings. 


Being a Christian is not an occupational requirement for this role but we would expect the successful applicant to be sympathetic and supportive to the Christian ethos of the house.

Volunteer Treasurer

The Retreat Association

We are seeking to appoint a volunteer treasurer to join our board of trustees and perform the following duties:

  • Preparing annual accounts and annual report, together with necessary working papers prior to independent examination.

  • Keeping the payroll for two members of staff using HMRC software system and preparing payslips.

  • Preparation of figures for quarterly VAT return and processing through HMRC system; preparing figures for gift-aid claims twice a year.


Although most of the duties can be undertaken at home, the role also involves monthly visits to the charity offices in Princes Risborough to update accounts, respond to queries, manage data protection. The role will also include working closely with the Executive Director and Office Administrator.


The trustees meet 3 times a year (daytime, usually in London). The appointment also involves membership of a sub-committee which meets 3 times a year.
