Charney Manor – A Conference and Retreat Centre in the Heart of the Oxfordshire Countryside

Charney Manor offers a peaceful and relaxing stay in a beautiful countryside setting. Guests are invited to enjoy our stunning gardens, take advantage of the many picturesque local walks, or simply unwind with a book in our fully stocked library.

All stays are fully catered, with meals served in our historic 13th-century dining room. Our in-house catering team prepares fresh, seasonal dishes using locally sourced produce, including ingredients from our very own kitchen garden. We are experienced in accommodating a wide variety of dietary requirements and can create bespoke menus tailored to the needs of your retreat or group.

Accommodation at Charney Manor includes 23 ensuite bedrooms, which can be booked on a single occupancy basis. For larger groups, we can host up to 35 guests on a shared basis, or up to 43 guests with the use of our Gillett’s Cottage for additional accommodation.

Our versatile meeting and retreat spaces include:

The Barn – Ideal for yoga and Pilates (up to 23 participants), or as a training/conference space (30 in a circle, 43 theatre style).
The Solar – A historic and atmospheric room accommodating up to 30 guests, perfect for meditation, lectures, or group discussions.

Additional communal areas include the sitting room, social room, lower barn, and the library—each providing comfortable, welcoming spaces for connection, relaxation, or quiet reflection. All communal rooms are accessible and located on the ground floor.

Outdoor, there are large gardens, a secret garden, an orchard, our kitchen garden and a courtyard with seating and picnic areas.

Charney Manor and Our Commitment to Sustainability

At Charney Manor, we place a strong emphasis on sustainability. Wherever possible, we use locally sourced produce and fair-trade products, with many fresh ingredients coming directly from our own kitchen garden. We compost and recycle extensively, make use of an innovative heating system, and provide guests with access to an electric car charging point. Our efforts have been recognised with a Silver Green Tourism Award.

Located in the village of Charney Bassett, Oxfordshire, Charney Manor is just 1.5 hours from London, 20 minutes from the picturesque Cotswolds, and 20 minutes from the historic city of Oxford. This makes us an ideal venue for retreat organisers seeking the perfect setting for rest, relaxation, and inspiration.

Accommodation on Offer

Accommodation

Charney Manor offers single occupancy accommodation for up to 23 retreatants, with all bedrooms featuring ensuite facilities, tea and coffee-making amenities, desks, TV's, Wifi, towels, and shower gel. Two of these rooms have private bathrooms.

For groups preferring shared occupancy, we can accommodate up to 35 retreatants, and with the use of Gillett’s Cottage, capacity increases to 43 retreatants in total.

Gillett’s Cottage is a charming five-bedroom property that can be hired either as part of a retreat stay or separately on a self-catered basis. It includes:

5 bedrooms (3 twin/double and 2 single)
Lounge and dining room
Kitchenette
Shower room and bathroom
Outdoor seating area

Yoga & Retreat Spaces

The Barn – our main indoor space, perfect for yoga, meditation, and Pilates (capacity up to 23).
Outdoor spaces – our gardens, orchards, and lawns provide multiple beautiful areas for outdoor yoga in warmer months.
Additional spaces – the Social Room (can also be used as a treatment room), the Lower Barn (ideal for relaxing, watching TV, or evening socials), and the historic Solar (suited for meditation, workshops, or group gatherings).
