Retreat Centre Description
Our Bernardine Cistercian monastery is situated on the Lancashire/Cumbria border, a designated area of natural beauty. Through hospitality we welcome individuals and groups who would like to share in the peace and prayerfulness of our monastic guest house. Minimum stay normally two nights. Guests are welcome to join the Community for daily Mass and the sung Divine Office. Sisters and the Chaplain are available to listen and retreatants may eat in silence. Guests are free to use the Church, the library, the bookshop and gift shop, the lounge and sitting room with its tea and coffee making facilities. Most of our landscaped and spacious garden is open to guests, and the Art Studio is available for use by arrangement. Every Wednesday afternoon there is an icon writing group.
RC but with a very ecumenical approach.
