A place for rooted faith and flourishing communities…
For many years ‘the Community for Reconciliation’ at Barnes Close was a vibrant community and network for peace-making. They offered a welcoming space for groups of all ages to get a much needed break, transformative personal retreats, support to peace-making work abroad and an ongoing exploration into expressions of peace in their times and places.
Now, under our new name, ‘The Greenhouse at Barnes Close’, we have a vision for continuing this inspiring work for our time. Building on the peace-making lessons of our forebears, we recognise the power of bringing together activism with contemplation, prayer practices with justice acts, loving God with loving neighbour.
Retreats. We’re gradually bringing our large Cadbury family home back to life, our indoor and outdoor spaces and accommodation are now available for you to hire for your own retreats, training and events.
We offer indivudal quiet days, as well as led retreats once a month. We also offer accommodation for up to 36 people and day bookings for up to 100 people. To find out more, check out our Facilities and Bookings pages.
Accommodation on Offer
Our ground floor, south-facing rooms enjoy spectacular natural light with views across the greenery of a beautiful five acre site. Lindisfarne Lounge boasts comfortable seating, the use of a large screen, a cosy log fire for autumn and winter and a piano. It can comfortably seat up to 40 people and can be reconfigured with tables and chairs to suit the needs of your group.
The Refectory is our dining space at the heart of the house which can comfortably seat up to 24 people. This opens out onto The Conservatory, with views over the Worcestershire countryside, which can be used as a further dining room, a coffee lounge or a break-out space. The double doors of the conservatory lead out onto The Terrace which is also south facing and is laid out with tables, chairs and offers lovely views of the site.
We also have a smaller, lower ground floor space, known as Cuthbert's Cave which is ideal for a group of up to 15 people to gather and meet. It has a large screen, a conservatory, access to the gardens, kitchen and a ping-pong table!
For a different type of retreat, we offer Dove Loft, a first floor flat, which can accommodate a small group comfortably. Please visit our website for more information about all of our facilities.
