Retreat Centre Description
With a rich heritage in reconciliation and peace work, The Greenhouse at Barnes Close offers a sacred space to retreat to, programmes to explore and a community to journey with. We are an ecumenical charity shaped and nourished by our Christian roots, and we welcome people of all faiths and none. For more information find us at www.greenhouseatbarnesclose.org.uk.
Alongside our led programme of retreats, we welcome day and residential group bookings for self-led and self-catered time away and provide Dove Loft for individuals or smaller groups looking for self-led self-catered time away.

Accommodation on Offer
Whole House includes 17 bedrooms with a mix of single, double, twin and family configurations with 36 beds in total. 8 have en-suite facilities including one accessible shower room. Capacity for up to approximately 95 day visitors. Fri - Sun bookings are only for group bookings of the Whole House which are self-led and self-catered.
Main House includes a lounge (capacity 40), dining room (capacity 25-30), conservatory with more dining space, terrace, two prayer rooms, self-catering kitchen, kitchennette and access to 5 acre grounds.
Cuthbert's Cave is on the lower ground floor (capacity 15) and includes lounge, conservatory, kitchen and access to 5 acre grounds.
Dove Loft is a first floor 4 bedroom flat (capacity 6-8).
Johansen-Berg Library is a room on the ground floor that can be hired for the day for 1-4 people

2026 Events
March 16th 4pm - 19th 3pm: Lent Encounter retreat. A led and catered 3-night retreat on a lenten theme with the option of a spiritual accompaniment session. LGBTQ+ inclusive and neurodiversity affirming.
July 20th 4pm - 23rd 3pm: Time & Space retreat. Make yourself at home in the house and grounds on this self-led, catered 3-night retreat with the option of a spiritual accompaniment session and the invitation to join in with midday prayers. LGBTQIA+ inclusive and neurodiversity affirming.
July 26th - September 1st: Curtains Up! This Christian creative arts residential holiday for 12-17 year olds offers a safe space for young people to enjoy the creative arts and learn more about what it means to follow Jesus. Soul Craft retreat days: (Mondays) Jan 19th, Feb 23rd, March 23rd, April 20th, May 18th, June 15th, July 13th. Come and breathe deep for a day. We frame our time with a simple scriptural reflection and invite you to use the house and grounds as you like. Bring a craft or whatever you like to do and your own lunch (pay as you can £2/£10/£15). Spiritual accompaniment sessions available. LGBTQIA+ inclusive and neurodiversity affirming.
